Normally when I try recipes from Pinterest, they are amazing. However, this was the first one that was a complete bust!
You can find the Turkey Pot Pie Turnover recipe I tried in my "When Autumn Leaves are Falling" Pinterest board. If you have better luck OR have a fool proof recipe I would LOVE to know.
In the meantime I thought I would share my Turkey Pot Pie recipe, because it works and it is delicious.
It works! Turkey Pot Pie Recipe
1-Pillsbury Pie Crust
1/3 cup butter
1/3 cup chopped onion
1/3 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 1/2 cups Chicken broth
2/3 cup milk
2-3 cups of shredded cooked chicken or turkey
2 cups of frozen or fresh mixed vegetables
1. Heat oven to 425* Make pie crusts as directed on package for two-crust pie.
2. In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add onion; cook two minutes or until tender. Add flour, salt and pepper; stir until well blended. Gradually stir in broth and milk, cooking and stirring until bubbly and thickened. Add chicken and mixed vegetables; mix well. Remove from heat. Spoon into crust-lined pan. Top with second crust; seal edges and flute. Cut slits or shapes in several places in top crust.
3. Bake 30 to 40 minutes or until crust is golden brown. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.
**Another option that I recently tried was instead of using a pie crust for the top of the pie, I topped pie with buttermilk biscuits from the can and covered with aluminum foil. It was so delicious.
