Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

It is Fall! And what a better time than to make your home smell delicious by simply throwing some apples in your slow cooker and making scrumptious applesauce.

There are many different recipes out there for applesauce, this one seems to work the best for me. Either you peel the skins or leave them on...it is like pulp or no pulp orange juice, it tastes the same just a difference in consistency.

Spiced Slow Cooker Applesauce

8 apples-peeled, cored and sliced
1/2 cup of water
3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
1 tablespoon of lemon juice

  • Combine the apples, lemon juice and water in a slow cooker; cook on low for 6 to 8 hours.

  • Stir in the brown sugar and pumpkin pie spice; continue cooking for another 30 minutes.

You can eat right away. Mr. K of Colors paired his applesauce with a bagel smothered in pumpkin cream cheese. Refrigerates nicely for up to a week.

I canned three jars of applesauce, simply sterilized a few jars before filling with the hot applesauce then boil bath for 20 minutes.

Hope you make your own applesauce to enjoy now or later. They even make fantastic Christmas gifts.
